Joanna on the Westport Country Playhouse stage November 13 at 7pm

I will be part of the “and more”, reading stage directions for a hilarious, charming new adaptation by Paul Slade Smith, directed by Mark Shanahan. I’ve been to the Westport Country Playhouse’s Script In Hand series before, and I know how much the audience enjoys these evenings. I feel extremely lucky to be part of one. Here’s the info, as shared by Playbill.com.

Westport Country Playhouse's Script in Hand play-reading series will continue November 13 at 7 PM with Paul Slade Smith's Theatre People.

Incoming Westport Artistic Director Mark Shanahan will direct Smith's new adaptation of Ferenc Molnár’s classic Hungarian farce, Play at the Castle.

The cast will feature Shereen Ahmed as Margot Bell, Erin Noel Grennan as Olga, Tony winner Beth Leavel as Charlotte Sanders, John Rapson as Victor Pratt, Rodolfo Soto as Oliver Adams, and Lee Wilkof as Arthur. Stage directions will be read by Joanna Parson.

Set in 1948 in a Newport mansion, the comedy follows Charlotte and Arthur, a married playwright couple; Margot, a celebrated ingénue; Victor, a narcissistic Broadway baritone; and Oliver, a young, insecure novelist; as well as Olga, an unabashedly unhelpful housekeeper.

“What a delight to welcome Paul Slade Smith's wonderful new comedy to the Script In Hand series,” says director Shanahan. “Paul’s play captures the snappy banter of an old-fashioned, backstage comedy while having just enough of a modern sensibility to turn this adaptation of a classic into something fresh and new. Theatre People is frothy, fast-paced fun—and as performed by this all-star cast of gifted comedians, it's sure to fill the Playhouse with plenty of laughter.”

Megan Smith is the stage manager.

Tickets are $25. For more information click here.
