Dec 8-10 Joanna directs Edie Falco and Stephen Wallem at the 52nd Street Project

Broadway World's coverage of the Food for Thought Plays

I couldn’t possibly say enough about the happiness I get from being a volunteer at the 52nd Street Project. In November and December, I spent time directing and dramaturging a short play starring Edie Falco and Stephen Wallem, a perfect pair if there ever was one.

You can watch all the plays and learn more about how they were created at the 52nd Street Project’s YouTube Channel here.

And if you just want to watch the delightful, heartfelt 10-minute “Salt and Pepper” with Edie and Stephen, just click this link.

Forgive me, theater making adults, but Angela, the 11 year old who wrote the play, has playmaking impulses that rival the best of you. Her “Salt and Pepper” included themes of self-soothing, speaking your feelings, and how sometimes your hands hurt when you write a lot. Watch the play when you need to be reminded why we do what we do, and remember: All you need, all you need is to be yourself. All you need to do is be yourself.
