First off: I love this show. When my boyfriend and I first discovered it on Amazon, we ate up the first and second seasons.
Set in the ’80s and starring Paul Reiser, Jennifer Grey, Richard Kind, Craig Roberts, Oliver Cooper, Alexandra Socha and Alexandra Turshen, among others, and created by David Gordon Green, Red Oaks is like a quality ’80s movie stretched out to three delicious seasons (two available now, one coming). The acting is stellar, the nostalgia is nuanced, and the growing up pangs are… well… pangful.
So I was thrilled to audition for casting assistant Candice Alustiza, and even more thrilled when I got the booking for a small day player (co-star) role in the third season, directed by Amy Heckerling (Clueless). I had so much fun, people couldn’t be nicer, I learned a lot, and Jennifer even made a “no one puts Baby in a corner” joke.
The third season won’t come out for a while (winter ’17), but here’s a preview shot of the best 1980s hair I’ve ever had in my life. They even painted on the frost!
