Joanna Parson is an actress, comedian, musician and writer, and has performed her social-satirist comedy for clubs like Caroline’s, Gotham, and Los Angeles’s The Comedy Store, as well as alternative venues and mainstream theaters across the country. Joanna’s CD, “Oh I’m Sorry Were You Talking I’ll Be Quiet” includes tracks recorded for WNYC’s public radio program, “The Next Big Thing.” She was the host of a bi-monthly new works salon, “The Happy Hour Salon,” at Siberia Bar and other venues, for five seasons, and the new Happy Hour Salon @ Bar Nine is coming back soon once a month in New York City.
Her most recent one-hour musical comedy, “Reddy or Not: A Musical Comedy Tribute to Helen Reddy,” was co-authored by Lance Werth, produced in multiple New York City venues, FringeNYC, and two regional theaters, and received two Los Angeles productions in 2008.
When not performing her original material, Joanna works as an actress in New York and regional theater and film, including starring in the recent Gallery Players Production of Christopher Durang’s “Mrs. Bob Cratchit’s Wild Christmas Binge,” of which the NYTimes said, “The main attraction is Joanna Parson’s very funny Mrs. Bob Cratchit.” TV/Film includes “Tony N Tina’s Wedding” and “As the World turns.”
